Lakeshore Idol Poster Analysis

Looking at this poster for Jasmine Jewel TDSB Idol, you are able to see a many elements used that made this an effective poster. One of the first things that stands out is the image of Jasmine. It takes up most of the poster, but is not to big that is the only foucus, there is still room for the typographic but still your focus is at the image of Jasmine.
another effective element of this poster is there are not to many extra little things. the poster does not have extra images or words that are unneeded for the poster. you have a clear view of everything that is needed to tell you about Jasmine Jewel.
the colour contrast works well in this poster. The image of Jasmine is a lot of black and white. by putting the pink and white as the background and font colour it makes the image of Jasmine stand out along with the font as well.
the typographic works extremly well together. the information at the bottom of the poster still works with the typographic of the logo. both sections have a cartoon look to them, which goes with the sort of playful and happy look of the image of jasmine. a long with the typographic the language goes with it as well. the words are simple enough for anyone to understand and know that the poster is talking about.

Essentials of a Good Poster

Essentials of a Good Poster

In order to create and design and good and effective poster there are a few key things you must do to complete one.

- The size of your image. Often times bigger is not always better, but to make an effective poster it can help. You want your image to stand out from any view or area, so the larger the image is on the size of your poster the more it will be seen from any angle.

- don't get carried away to with to many random little things. Keep your poster design and text simple, getting right to the point you are trying to convey.

- Colours are key. The more contrast in your colour contrast choices the more the poster will stand out. If you keep your colours to close in the same colour scheme it will all blend into one, which can make it easy to miss the statement your poster is sending.

- be original! Big images that may not always go together, images or texts that make people stop and take a second look. The more innovative and different the poster the more people will talk about it.

- make sure your message of your poster is obvious and that is keeps the focus to what you are trying to promote.

- When using typography make sure it works combined with your image. If your poster is all typographic then it needs to be able to work on its own. It is also key to make sure your font is simple enough to read and understand.

- When choosing language make sure if is the style and language of the time and area you are making the poster for.

- when deciding the structure of your poster the way you use space, and the way your elements are positioned help out the look of your poster.

Alice in Wonderland

So over this past March Break i saw Tim Burton's lastest film, his verison on the children's story Alice in Wonderland. This movie had me hooked right from the start. I had never seen the original Disney version of Alice in Wonderdland, so i did not even really know the whole plot line. The flim was beautfly done. It had a dark and edgeness to it, but that made it so much more interesting to watch. The look of the film was really eye catching the way in incorperated real life actors mixed with 3D animation. You had Alice who was a real person, but then you would have the cat who was all grapic animation. Some of the characters had both effects to them. The Red Queen was human looking but her oversized head was created with the 3D animation effect. Another visually pleasing element that I loved about this movie was the fashion in it. Each time Alice was taken to a new area in Wonderland, her outfit changed to match the area she was now in. When she was in her regualar world she was in the basic blue and white dress that she is known for. When she enters Wonderland her dress is still blue and white, but now it has changed and is more flowy and has more ruffles and frills to it. Even when she goes to the Red Queens castle her dress changes as well. I thought the best look she had on is when the Mad Hatter cuts and tweeks her blue and white dress. this flim had an amazing graphic and artist look to it. it was a movie that i was dying to watch over and over again, not just because of the plot line, but mostly because of the design element to it.
